WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
At least 95% of the money raised goes directly to the scholarship fund.
Every dollar we raised up until the time we received our 501(c)(3) status went directly to the scholarship fund. Any expenses we had during that time were purchased by organizers and volunteers from their personal funds.
After receiving charitable status, we established a policy of putting 5% of our donations in an overhead account. This money will be used for things like equipment and supplies, most of which is used for our Jack of Hearts fundraiser. Supplies include things like playing cards and raffle tickets.
A donor provided $400 to kick start our overhead fund. We have very little overhead, so we will periodically evaluate our overhead account and whenever possible move some of those funds back into the scholarship fund.
